A week full of firsts:

-seeing Sherlock Holmes for free (great movie, kudos to Guy Ritchie)

-seeing my first movie in 3D (Avatar)

-creating my first 3D illustration (see above)

-a good experience using 2 pillows while sleeping.

-I think I’m a new fan of Steampunk.

And last but not least, my yoga class started this week. Yay!

It’s typical that the new year should bring a new way of looking at life, at love, at work… pretty much everything. Although I don’t really make ‘resolutions’, I do try to use the start of a new year to better myself with challenges. This year, I’m going to really try and organize myself. That, my friends, is no easy task.

I’ve even gone to the extent of making a ‘weekly schedule’ of sorts, to try and whittle down that never-ending To-Do List. I have days set aside specifically for every facet of my life that I deem important (or should), like designing new things, knitting, sewing, socializing (yes, I’ve scheduled that in… don’t laugh!), and of course art. I mean hands-on art, not just sit-googly-eyed-in-front-of-the-Mac kind of art.

Oh, and I’ve opened up a new Etsy shop dedicated to graphic design! Right now I’m dealing specifically with printables (meaning buy the design, print at home or at a copy shop), but hopefully with time (and the elusive dollar) I will be able to offer printed goods as well. Visit me at paperwhitedesign.etsy.com!

My old shop still exists at crystalklassen.etsy.com, but I’ll be selling more fine art, photography, etc in that one. Hopefully, with my new ’schedule’, I’ll be posting some more goods in that shop as well! Phew. I just hope I can keep up.

A look back at New Years ‘09:

-road trip to Borden SK to the Model T Bar & Grille

-free yummy appies!

-masquerade!

-lots of fun, gonna make it an annual tradition methinks. :)

How was YOUR start to the new year?

A neat idea for using a map as art. (Because really, it is, isn’t it?) Found via Design Sponge.

Perhaps you have a small living space. And perhaps you need more space to put books, a desk, a reading chair, maybe even a crib. Have you ever noticed how much space your bedroom takes up? (hey, most of the time we spend in there is spent unconscious anyway!) Perhaps… it’s time to get rid of your bed.

Speaking of bedrooms, this blogger has put together such a cute nursery for her coming baby. I’m just in love with bunting!

I’m still on the hunt for a summer job. (this is the part I don’t miss about being a student.) I could just settle for retail work at 9 hours a week, but even with my limited math skills, I figure that would require me to have at least a 5-month summer that I could work in order to afford an iMac. And that’s only if I don’t touch one red cent that goes into my bank account… ha ha ha…
